I Attended the First Ever Hustle At Sea. Get the Scoop

September 15, 2018 by Danyelle Little

The inaugural Permission to Hustle At Sea retreat took place during five days of work and play while on the Carnival Paradise. Get the scoop here.

I just spent the last week soaking in gems, knowledge, tips, and best practices.

We call it Hustle at Sea—a curated set of workshops and experiences by Audrey McClelland and Vera Sweeney, who are both major players in our industry. What’s more is we are on a Carnival Cruise while partaking in all of this goodness! (Thanks, Carnival!)

When I first heard about this retreat while in an exclusive Facebook Group of powerful and successful bloggers and content creators, I paid it no mind. There are so many conferences and events—I attended many of them and found myself burned out on, or not getting the ROI I expected.

After a few months, the retreat popped up in my feed again, and this time, I did some research. There’s power in learning and growing, even if you’ve been in the game for a minute. What a great way to surround yourself with others who get what you do and can share their tips for success. I decided that after being stagnant and stuck for over the past year, I would register for Hustle at Sea and allow myself to be open, ready to learn, and vulnerable.

This last week has been just what I needed. Five days of a retreat style un-conference on the Carnival Paradise ship which docked in both Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Playtime was in the rotation too, as this was a great Work Life Management mix which is key to our overall health and wellness.

It has been a week of bonding and learning and getting back to what it is that I love about the blogging community.

If you don’t do anything else for your career or niche, I implore you to attend an event (or three) that will help you do the same. Start researching conferences, events, retreats, etc. and begin working towards being able to pay for your ticket to attend. Consider it an investment in your future and in your success.

I plan on writing a more extensive wrap up of what I learned at Hustle at Sea, but here are three important gems to remember when working on building and solidifying your brand:

New York City Photo Shoot Fresh

August 10, 2018 by Danyelle Little

I’ve always wanted to have a photo shoot in New York City.

The Big Apple is a creative’s paradise as it thrives on the heartbeats of its inhabitants. These vibes act as synergy that mixes with the bright lights, big city theme. Chip Dizárd, epic photographer and image catalyst took on the challenge of shooting me with his lens.

We are talking Bucket List ish here. I’ve wanted to work with Chip for years, so our universes aligned and we made it happen. The result was a match for the blogging masses.

Chip and his assistant Candace Howe got me all together, honey. They helped loosen me up, played music that I could vibe to to get the right shot, and were consummate professionals throughout the process.

I’ve had many a photoshoot, but this one was gold star material, all the way.

Five Business Lessons I Learned at the 2018 Essence Fest

July 20, 2018 by Danyelle Little

The 2018 Essence Fest may be over, but I am sharing some gems and lessons with you that I learned while attending. Peep game.

I am currently in the post-glow feeling of the 2018 Essence Fest even though it was a few weeks ago. I am still processing the event and the Black Girl Magic of it all. I recently read that it was the most-attended Essence Fest with over 500,000 attendees whom infiltrated New Orleans for a party like none other. I’ve been to the Essence Fest before, but this one was different.

I call it the Girls’ Trip Effect.

Women of color in the 21 century are professional, high earners, and oftentimes are the most coveted demographic group when it comes to setting trends. The world looks to us as leaders of the culture, and thus, we are making Money Moves and have power with our dollar.

During the event, I was in awe at the hugeness of it all and of the brands who attended and poured hundreds of thousands of dollars to get our attention.

The 2018 Essence Fest was a case-study of melanin magesticness and from a business standpoint, I was educated in so many ways. Pull up a chair and I will share with you the Five Business Lessons I Learned at the 2018 Essence Fest.

Vacation With Intention: Download My Free Travel Journal

June 8, 2018 by Danyelle Little

Learn how to truly take a vacation without the interference of work plus download my free travel journal to help you remember your trip.

Most working Americans do not use their allotted vacation days. This means that many of us are overworked, overstressed, and under-nourished when it comes to our personal lives. This is the thing: we work so that we can take care of ourselves and our families, but we neglect to mindfully take time off because we are programmed to work, work, work, work, work. Not only is that the chorus of a Rihanna song, but it has become an anthem for how we live.

Traveling is an important part of cultivating oneself and is necessary. We need time to explore something new and partake in different surroundings, scenery, and cultures. If you do not travel at least once a quarter, my friend, it is time to change that.

I do my fair share of travel for both business and personal, and I make sure to take at least one trip each quarter that is for leisure only. It is a priority for me, and it is pretty much non-negotiable.

We work hard, we hustle, we burn the midnight oil, and it is time that we vacation with intention. This means that not only are we getting away from it all, but we are getting in much needed self-care and restoration for our mind, body, and soul. Intentional travel means we have a purpose for going to our destination alongside goals that we want to accomplish, so that it is not just a trip or vacation, but an experience as well.

In order to get the most out of your intentions when traveling, I am sharing my Free Travel Journal that you can print out in order to write down your thoughts, feelings, and memories daily while on vacay.

Fab News: What’s New and Happening at The Cubicle Chick

April 18, 2013 by Danyelle Little

Hi there! There’s been so many things happening with TheCubicleChick.com and my brand that I wanted to take some time and fill you in on all of the news.

TheCubicleChick.com continues to grow and evolve, and it’s because of my readers that I’ve been able to do the things I am doing. I never wanted to be just a blogger; I wanted to be a conduit for others to help them grow in whatever it is they wanted to be. I’ve been working on my second book, SHINE: 30 Days of Positive Life Affirmations, and will be releasing it soon. By far, this is the largest project I’ve worked on, and I really hope it’s received well.

Here’s more of what’s been going on in my Cube:
