My Word for 2016: Expansion

January 1, 2016 by Danyelle Little

Danyelle-LittleSince moving forward as a displaced career woman turned Mompreneur and Digital Debutante, I have selected a word of vision as I move into a new year. For 2016, the stakes are higher, and so are my goals. Because of this journey and the steps taken to get here, I am living a life I never knew I could. But not one for complacency or comfortability, I want to up the ante once and again and challenge myself to embark on new soil. So after a lot of thought and careful self-reflecting, I’ve chosen expansion as my word for 2016.

Why expansion?

Merriam Webster defines expansion as the act of becoming bigger or making something bigger. I want to super size my ambition, and in doing that, create more opportunities that I can spread my wings creatively and professionally. I want to add more titles to my name. I want to truly gamble on something that could be a game changer. But most of all, I want to help other working parents thrive, grow, and succeed.

So what does expansion look like to me, you may ask.

Here are a few examples of just some of the plans I have for the upcoming year (I am listing these not out of ego, but for accountability):

What’s Your Price?

August 13, 2015 by Danyelle Little

What's Your Price

When helping people with their personal brands and creating a digital movement, I often ask my clients to begin with their PRICE.

It is a tool that you can use to truly delve into how you want to do business, who you want to attract, as well as who or what you can lend value to. PRICE doesn’t have so much to with the actual charging of services that you will be conducting, but more about the overall foundation of how you will do business.

Let’s delve into it a little more.

#Periscope of My Lunch and Learn: Turning Your Passion into a Monetized Movement

August 9, 2015 by Danyelle Little

I’ve been on Periscope for a minute, but last week, I did my first in a series of Lunch and Learns which I hope will educate, inform, and empower my viewers. And since Periscope only allows rebroadcasts to air up to 24 hours after it’s recorded, I saved the video to my Dropbox so I could upload and share here.

Join The Cubicle Chick

Many people refer to themselves as personal brands and I am all for that. But I like to use the word movement, because it invokes power and community. When you speak of yourself and what it is you are doing as a movement, it gets other people involved. It becomes an “us” and a “we” thing and less of a “me” or “I” thing. For example, The Cubicle Chick, my personal brand, is named after me, a woman who discusses career and lifestyle. But it has grown into a movement of contributors and readers who want to learn more about being a better working parent while living their best lives personally and professionally.

My movement is no longer just about me but others as well.

And with your movement, you can make a profit, too. So in this Periscope Lunch and Learn, I am breaking down how you can utilize your passion while turning it into a monetized movement.

Watch the rebroadcast of the Lunch and Learn below.

10 Reasons Why Failing Works

10 Reasons Why Failing Works

At any given time, you can search the web and read hundreds of thousands articles and stories about entrepreneurs and careerists who are sharing their success secrets. What we as the end user sees is often the glossy part of their story. The red carpets, the adoration, the riches, the vacations—I could go on and on. But what we don’t see is the not so good days that they had to get to where they are today. The rejections, the slammed doors in their faces, the chase. One thing most of these stories have in common as that at one time or another, they failed. And it was in that failure that they learned and the took it and flipped it.

I, too, was a failure.

I, too, still fail.

Failing is the physical result of trying out your ideas. And it also can act as a blueprint to help propel you to heights you’ve only dreamt of.

Are you with me?

Here’s a list of 10 reasons why failing works. And why failing is important for reaching your ultimate potential and greatness.
