I know it’s been a minute since I’ve shared a blog post on here, but I wanted to come back and share this tidbit with you.
In a very crowded and oversaturated social media landscape, you’ve got to do what you can to be heard above the noise. With so many campaigns, opportunities to work with brands for revenue, and income streams online, you don’t want to leave any money on the table.
A strong way that you can make a compelling introduction is by having an About Me video on your About Me page.
On video, people can see things that they can’t see in your written words or photos. They can see your passion, your knowledge, and learn more about you. A video can be used to showcase your speaking ability while showing off the unique person you are. It allows you to “sell” and “sizzle”.
Since posting the video to my About Me page, I’ve been able to procure a few more opportunities and paid partnerships, many of which are from the video.
Here’s some more reasons why you should have an About Me video on your About Me page:

- It visually showcases your personality.
- Shows prospects that you can be confident in front of the camera.
- Can be more friendly and personally appealing.
- May help you land your next opportunity over competition who do not have video.
- Allows you to be creative.
When shooting your About Me video, make sure you have good lighting and a good background. Remember that although you may be a personal brand, a professional looking video will get you better results.
Professional looking doesn’t mean perfect. If a kid or two darts in and out of your shot, keep it in. This helps people see the real you and the real life that you live.
Video is important these days and is quickly becoming the #1 way to share content. Utilize it to your advantage to help put forth an overall understanding of who you are and what you do.
